Our client is looking for a Shift Supervisor to manage a team on their shopfloor. If you have managed a team before working to tight deadlines this maybe the role for you or if you have worked within a shopfloor production environment and looking for a supervisor position then please apply.

Shift Patterns below, but they are also happy if someone only wants day shift

Days – 6am to 13:30

Afternoons – 13:30 to 21:00

Mid-Shift – 10:00 to 17:30

As Supervisor you coordinate and supervise the manufacturing and assembly of the clients product range as required, where training has been provided, in accordance with documented company procedures and the company’s Environmental and Quality Policies.


• To maximise productivity at all times ensuring staff adhering to rules and recognised codes of conduct.


• To ensure all activities are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with recognized SOP’s.


• To coordinate the day-to-day production plan ensuring all staff are employed in useful tasks.


• To drive continuous improvements to all processes.


• To ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with the H&S policy.


• To support the Production Manager and the Operations Manager in product developments, and all activities which are intended to further enhance the performance of the company as a whole.


• To ensure all equipment is used correctly and safely at all times.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SUPERVISOR ROLE IN ADDITION TO THE ROLE OF MANUFACTURING OPERATIVE:

Planning -


• To manufacture curtains and other products according to training and work instructions provided


• Main line production planning, ensuring that scheduled production requirements and product quality standards are achieved by the effective planning and allocation of tasks to the team.


• Off line production planning of bespoke work and sub – contract work


• To consider production capacity and capabilities in line with sales projections, and plan manufacturing output accordingly.


• Plan printed stocks - roll stocks and finished product


• Ensuring the manufacturing processes are achieving their intended results

Performance –


• To ensure that optimum productivity levels are achieved for each process and ensure that any causes of delay are addressed.


• To monitor the causes of downtime, analyse the results and provide a plan for resolution of the key issues identified with the Operations Manager.

Reporting and Paperwork-


• To ensure that clear, accurate documentation is produced, in line with the requirements of company procedures, including the real time updating of any manufacturing documentation.


• To maintain manufacturing records


• Manage product specifications for all product manufactured at our clients site and to establish a base line for acceptability.

Management Requirements -


• Ensure that staff are fully conversant with the requirements of manufacturing processes, as defined within training guides and company procedures.

Quality Requirements -


• To demonstrate to the team, by example, the company’s expectations for consistent provision of quality goods and services


• To ensure adherence to work SOPs and Quality Procedures and that all documentation is completed and maintained as required by the Quality System.


• To ensure quality checks are carried out at key stages throughout the product realisation process, throughout manufacture and product release and products reworked online during the manufacturing process are segregated and meet all quality specifications.


• Undertake any reasonable work activity that your line manager may request.


• Continuous improvement - To initiate, support and lead Continuous Improvement projects as required.


• Health & Safety - All employees are to be aware and understand their health & safety responsibilities as laid out in the Summit Medical Policy and its associated documentation. All employees have a legal duty to take all care needed for the safety of themselves and others who may be affected by their activities and to co-operate with the employer in complying with statutory requirements.

• Undertake any reasonable work activity that your line manager may request.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Forklift truck license - desirable

At least 2 year’s experience of leading a team or 2 years’ experience working on the shopfloor.

Previous Supervisory experience desirable
