My Client is recruiting for an Electrical Engineer in the Water Sector

We are searching for an experienced electrical engineer but will also consider an electrical engineer who wants to progress to a broader career in general project electrical engineering. For the right candidate, this position has considerable potential for growth and advancement as the company grows. We are looking for an experienced electrical engineer who ideally has experience of electrical design/project management in construction and practical operating conditions of industrial water systems. Ideally that would include experience with industrial wastewater treatment, chemical bulk handling & distribution, ultrapure water for electronics applications and therefore including:

Filtration systems
Membrane treatments including reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration
Conventional and electrolytic deionisation systems
Wastewater treatment systems
Chemical bulk handlingHowever, this is not essential as in-house training will be provided, some of which will probably be in Germany. We will also give additional weight to any candidates having previous experience in the design and preparation of proposals for wastewater treatment plants, either chemical (inorganic) or biological. It is particularly important to us that the selected candidate must have practical, proven ability and experience and we will therefore give serious consideration to those with field commissioning and operating experience.

Although this position is for an electrical engineer which is primarily a post contract position, it can also include a significant pre contract involvement, largely dictated by company workload. It will have a number of wide-ranging responsibilities including:

Pre contract:

Specifying equipment requirements for those process designs
Co-ordinating with equipment / system suppliers
Assisting with preparation of EC&I element of quotations
Follow-up, liaison and meetings with clients' electrical engineers
Preparation of detailed EC&I designs as part of the post-contract team
Site visits as appropriate / Collection of information for quotation preparation

Post-Contract:

Day to day contact & coordination of EC&I project matters with client, subcontractors & staff.
Specifying and purchasing of equipment, particularly control systems & instrumentation, progressing its manufacture & delivery, ensuring its quality.
Production of general contract documentation including instrument/cable Schedules, Data Sheets etc.
Production of Health & Safety documentation including Risk Assessments, Method Statements, COSHH assessments, Safety Instructions in relation to electrical works etc.
Production of Functional Design Specifications based on outline operating process concepts.
Supervision of CAD designers for the production of electrical drawings and equipment design drawings.
Providing periodic electrical technical support for a small number of other clients with both water and wastewater treatment plants of various types.
Assisting in the bringing to market, sales, support and servicing of an increasing number of water / wastewater treatment products, some of which will include cutting-edge technologies.

Post contract site work includes:

Organising and receiving equipment deliveries.
Site inspections & measurement.
Installation supervision.
Day-to-day liaison with client & contractors.
On-site pre-commissioning electrical checks.
Plant commissioning EC&I, which will require familiarity with plc based control systems. Capability of reading and modifying software ladder logic is preferable.
Production of Method Statements, Risk Assessments in relation to electrical works and working with Permit systems.
Production of site reports & paperwork, including site instructions & variations.
Providing on-site support and technical expertise.
Providing periodic electrical technical support for a small number of other clients with both water and wastewater treatment plants of various types.
Fault finding & rectification. This is an important aspect of the position.

Experience and Qualifications:

Electrical Engineering HNC/HND/Degree or similar
Experience in the Water sector or similar process related environment
