My client a boutique law firm in the City are currently looking for an Assistant Legal Cashier to join their team on a permanent basis. Day-to-day of the role:
  • Financial Administration & Compliance:
    • Maintain client and office ledgers, process payments, and ensure compliance with Solicitors’ Accounts Rules (SAR) and AML regulations.
    • Support monthly and year-end cashiering duties, SAR audits, and compliance training.
  • Billing & Reporting:
    • Prepare financial reports, billing forecasts, and KPIs for partners.
    • Conduct billing meetings, prepare bills for fee earners, review matter lists, and address residual balances/compliance issues.
    • Provide support to management and staff on billing performance and reaching billing targets.
  • Office Operations & Administration:
    • Manage office expenses, supplies, file management, archiving, and ad hoc administrative tasks.
    • Support recruitment, onboarding, payroll updates, and system improvements including new case management software.
    • Review supplier contracts and assist with daily invoice and expense checks.
  • Team Collaboration & Support:
    • Work closely with the management team and individual fee earners to align efforts with firm goals.
    • Liaise with clients, compliance officers, accountants, and regulatory bodies.
    • Train fee earners on financial compliance and support ad hoc tasks.
    • Assist the Partners and Operations team in ensuring smooth office operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 2–3 years of legal finance or cashiering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of SAR, legal financial regulations, and legal accounting software.
  • Close attention to detail and accuracy in financial and administrative work.
  • Assertive communication skills with the ability to work in a team, manage a team, and develop/motivate staff.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive approach to managing tasks and supporting team goals.
  • Membership to ILFM or similar is preferred.
