What you will do:
As a Production Operator you will work as part of a team that produce high quality pharmaceutical products with a focus on the treatment of pain, addiction and critical care, whilst ensuring that all activities within the production area are conducted in adherence to established standards of Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP). You will Your key responsibilities include:

  • Accurate Documentation: Complete batch manufacturing records with accuracy, neatness, and integrity to ensure compliance at all times.
  • Adherence to GMP Standards: Follow detailed GMP working instructions and guidelines to produce high-quality products.
  • Collaboration with Engineering: Work closely with the Engineering team to address and resolve machine breakdowns promptly.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure batch-to-batch tasks are completed efficiently, minimising downtime.
  • Quality Control: Perform thorough quality control checks at various stages of the process to uphold product and patient safety.
Labelling and Packing (Ampoules and Pre-Filled Syringes):

  • Use either advanced camera systems or manual processes to inspect ampoules and syringes, depending on the product type.
  • Ensure the correct labels are loaded into the labelling machine to maintain product security and confirm labels are applied accurately.
  • Prepare products for distribution through either manual or equipment-based packing processes.
This role is critical to ensuring that products meet quality standards and are delivered safely to end users.

Individuals will be required to wear cleanroom garments and a one-piece suit as well as PPE including powered respirators.
Due to the nature of the environment candidates must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Manual handling is required. Individuals must demonstrate good hygiene practice and apply their training to minimise the risk of contamination.


About you:

Our ideal candidate will have knowledge of cGMP and experience working in the pharmaceutical or a similar industry, although full training will be provided. The successful candidate will be process driven, with a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills.


Basic qualifications and skills

  • Educated to a GCSE (or equivalent) level including Maths and English
  • PC literate (Word, Excel, and outlook) basic level
  • Strong numerical skills, able to read & understand numerical data.
  • Experience of working within a process driven/structured environment
  • Experience of operating machinery
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Self-motivation, ambition, and confidence
  • Adaptability and ability to work under pressure
  • Clear communicator and motivator
  • Able to perform manual handling with HSE guidelines
Preferred (in addition to minimum)

  • Experience of working a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
  • Experience of using SAP
  • GCSE A-C (or equivalent) in science or engineering
  • Good understanding of cGMP within a manufacturing environment

They should demonstrate diligence, a hardworking and positive attitude, and strong team player qualities. Adaptability and a willingness to learn are essential. A technically minded approach, with the capability to see beyond processes, is highly valued.

  • £26,588 per annum including a 16% shift allowance

Working hours information

  • 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday, working early and late shifts, which will rotate on a weekly basis
  • Early shift: 6am - 2pm
  • Late shift: 2pm - 10pm

Ethypharm supplies medicines to a wide range of health care systems, notably in the UK where we have over 100 different products on contract to supply to the NHS including Commercial Medicines Units, hospital pharmacists, wholesalers, retail pharmacy buying groups and retail pharmacy chains. We also provide medicines to psychiatrists, GPs, doctors, nurses and ex-drug users all of whom are involved in prescribing and providing services to patients.

Our Romford facility is located 20 miles from the centre of London and consists of over 6700 square metres of a high-quality, modern pharmaceutical facility where we mix, fill, sterilise, inspect, pack, and label a wide range of medicines.
