Support Students with SEMH and Challenging Behaviour

A well-established secondary school in London is looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant with experience in managing challenging behaviour to join its dedicated support team. The successful candidate will work closely with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to engage with learning and manage their emotions in a positive way.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

* Provide one-to-one and small group support to students displaying challenging behaviour.

* Use de-escalation strategies and behaviour management techniques to support students in the classroom.

* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to implement individual behaviour support plans.

* Help students develop self-regulation skills, resilience, and positive coping strategies.

* Support students in both academic and social aspects of school life, including transitions between lessons.

* Assist in delivering targeted interventions to help students overcome barriers to learning.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

* Have experience working with students who display challenging behaviour in an educational setting.

* Be confident in using positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.

* Be patient, calm, and able to build trusting relationships with students.

* Have the ability to remain professional and resilient in challenging situations.

* Have experience working in SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision settings (desirable but not essential).
