SEN Teaching Assistant (Year 4)

Are you an empathetic and proactive individual with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a thriving primary school in Barnet as a SEN Teaching Assistant, working 1:1 with a Year 4 student with ADHD.

About the RoleAs a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a bright and academically able student who requires assistance managing impulsive behaviour.

Your role will involve:

• Supporting the student in maintaining focus and staying on track during lessons.

• Implementing effective behaviour management strategies to foster a positive learning environment.

• Anticipating and preempting challenging situations using your observational skills and initiative.

• Facilitating regular movement breaks to help the student regulate energy levels.

• Providing additional support during lunch breaks to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.

A qualification in teaching assistance or related fields is beneficial but not mandatory.

What matters most is your ability to connect with the child, stay calm under pressure, and use your initiative to adapt to the student's needs.
