The Client

Our client are a highly respected building envelope provider, specialising in facades, roofing, cladding and glazing. Having successfully won 2 large projects curtain walling / rainscreen projects in London they are now looking to add an experienced Design Manager to their team.

The Role

The aim of this role is to lead the design process and Design team, this role will proactively problem solve and take decision on behalf of the Design team to provide timely and quality project outcomes. Data will be produced and shared promptly with the Design Director, and wider business.

The Role Holder will:

Assure compliance within the Design team delivery, undertaking appropriate quality checks are adhering with design standards across all projects.
Proactively identify current and future relevant legislation and industry standards.
Utilise industry connections and keep up to date with future innovation concepts, sharing relevant ideas with the Design Director and other senior leaders across the Group.
Actively establish strong working relationships, with both internal and external stakeholders, where the role holder influences business outcomes ensuring achievement of client projects.
Deliver designs based upon architect concepts and employer's requirements.
Take ownership of issues that arise by liaising with stakeholders across the organisation whilst utilising existing working relationships to influence positive outcomes.
Have in-depth knowledge of varying Façade systems.
Highlight project delays, in a timely manner, to the Design Director especially where this may impact the wider group.
Consider the impact of team delivery upon other areas of the organisation, rather than adopting a silo approach.
Educate and support the Design Team to be compliant by implementing best practise into working arrangements.
Support, train, and coach team members to produce architect concepts and employer's requirements.
Take ownership of any concerns raised by team members and escalate to the relevant party, if required, whilst continuing to take ownership of the issue until resolution.  
Create an environment where team members are able to raise concerns regarding any aspect of the job and projects.
Will act as a mentor to Design team members.
Carry out all reasonable duties as directed by leaders within the organisation.
