Transport Administrator

Location: Newport

Hourly Rate: £13.46 per hour (£28,000 per annum)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (approximately 8 AM - 5 PM with a 1-hour unpaid break)

Duration: Ongoing, with potential to become permanent for the right candidate

Flexibility: Some flexibility in hours may be required

About the Role:

Thrive Group is acting on behalf of our client-to fill an urgent requirement for a Transport Administrator at their Newport site. this role is integral to ensuring the smooth operation of their transport services.​

Key Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling and Planning: Coordinate transportation services by planning routes and assigning drivers to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Documentation Management: Process shipping documents, including bills of lading, and maintain accurate records of all transportation activities.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all transport operations comply with relevant regulations and company policies, maintaining a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Budget Management: Assist in managing budgets by processing purchase orders and payments related to transportation services.
  • Communication: Liaise between managers, drivers, and other departments to optimise transportation services and address any issues promptly. ​
  • Customer Service: Handle customer inquiries and escalate serious complaints to management as necessary. ​

Requirements:

  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a transportation administration role or similar industry. ​
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in transportation management, project management, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in transportation management or logistics software.​
    • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.​
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Problem-solving and analytical capabilities
  • Flexibility: Availability to address operational issues outside of regular business hours when required.
