Salary: £50,000 - £50,511 per annum

This is a remote working position, however the successful candidate will need to be able to travel within a number of regions which includes Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Somerset, Devon & Cornwall and London - approximately one day per month.

You will have experience in workplace mediation or restorative practice and will be able to demonstrate how you can apply these skills in the day to day role.

You will be responsible for managing your own caseload ensuring that, cases are prioritised and will be confident enough to manage cases competently up to an employment tribunal stage.

Role Purpose:

Responsible for supporting the business with operational employee relations matters. Providing appropriate and relevant employee relations advice and guidance, including identification of risk and alternative options to facilitate appropriate and commercially focussed outcomes.

ERP’s work autonomously to effectively manage their own case work and have responsibility for the supervision of one People Advisor. The role is accountable for ensuring the service to customers is accurate, responsive, and delivered in a timely way, only escalating to the Employee Relations Lead when complex or high-risk matters arise.

The ERP role is pivotal in ensuing leaders are appropriately supported to manage their own people issues consistently and effectively using restorative practice approaches, within a framework people policies and best practice principles, ensuing adherence to current employment law.

The employee relation 'goto’ person for operational ER matters, building professional and credible relationships of trust at all levels of the organisation. Using excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills to achieve appropriate outcomes.

Other organisations may call this role an Operational HR Business Partner or Human Resources Manager.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide advice and guidance to enable leaders to deal with issues of conduct (behaviour), or performance competently and restoratively in line with our Resolution Policy
  • Provide sound and effective advice and guidance to leaders and colleagues on all employee relations matters
  • Ensure guidance given is legally sound, identifies options and any associated risks
  • Support leader/colleague through each stage of agreed process to required outcome
  • Ensure cases are proactively managed and recorded within case management system
  • Supervise case load and provide advice and support to develop knowledge and confidence and expertise of People Advisor
  • Support the strategic business partners in ER operational delivery where appropriate
  • Collectively (with other ERP’s, People Advisors and SBP’s) be responsible for ensuring that our employee relations service is professional, effective, and cohesive
  • Work collaboratively and proactively with other People teams to develop an approach that provides the best service to our internal customers
  • Provide insight to ensure the continued development of relevant employment related people policies and procedures
  • Assist with the creation of leader (and colleague) information, guidance, templates, and documents, ensuring these continue to accurately reflect business determined approaches and remain legally compliance
  • Provide guidance, coaching and support to leaders in respect of employee relations, including the supporting of training initiatives and development management toolkits
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of employment case law and legislative changes, effectively using this knowledge within the work we do within employee relations and the wider people team

Expertise:

  • Minimum CIPD Level 5 essential
  • CIPD Level 7 /HR Management Degree or equivalent related qualification desirable
  • Professional membership of CIPD- Chartered Membership desirable
  • Previous experience of working within an HR role, senior officer, partner, or manager level required essential
  • Workplace Mediation or Restorative Practice experience - desirable
  • Extensive knowledge of employment law, case law and ACAS best practice guidance
  • Proficient level of IT skills, including Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Teams
  • Excellent writing and language skills and the ability to communicate effectively with leaders and other key stakeholders
  • Ability to advise competently on cases in a timely manner and work effectively in line with policy and best practice guidance to reduce business risk whilst remaining solution focussed
