Assistant Bursar Responsibilities:
As Assistant Bursar, you will work closely with the Bursar to support the school's finance and operational functions. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with financial management, including budget monitoring and preparation of management accounts
- Supporting the Bursar in estates management, facilities leasing, and health & safety compliance
- Overseeing purchase ledger processes and supervising payroll administration
- Managing facilities lettings administration and coordinating external bookings
- Preparing financial records for auditing purposes and assisting with VAT returns
- Contributing to the development of financial procedures and operational systems
- Supporting general administration and organisation of the Bursary function
Assistant Bursar Requirements:
The ideal Assistant Bursar will possess:
- Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and financial management software
- Experience in preparing financial records for auditing and VAT returns
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work proactively and use initiative to solve problems
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Experience in an educational or charity/not-for-profit environment (desirable)
- An accountancy qualification relevant to the post (e.g., AAT, CIMA, ACCA, ACA) (desirable)
