Our client in the Construction Project & Financial Management industry is currently looking for a Junior Quantity Surveyor or Estimator to be based in the Western Cape, Northern Suburbs area.

Position: Junior Quantity Surveyor / Estimator

Location: Bellville, Northern Suburbs, Western Cape

The successful candidate must have:

  • Matric with a B.Tech or B.Sc degree in Quantity Surveying or a similar qualification
  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience as a Quantity Surveyor
  • Excellent computer literacy - (Excel, Word, Outlook, Projects)
  • ·    Experience in CCS will be an advantage.
  • Familiar with relevant contracts and standards such as, JBCC 2000 Series, GCC (General Conditions of Contract),
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Must have outstanding accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have own transport.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare elemental cost estimates based on the architectural drawings, engineering estimates, materials required, and labour involved.
  • Prepare tender and contractual documents, including bills of quantities.
  • Evaluate tenders from contractors and subcontractors and, where appropriate, negotiate with the contractors.
  • Management of Contract Instructions & Variation orders during Construction Phase
  • Management of Fortnightly & Monthly Valuation & Payment Certificates during Construction Phase
  • Monitor and track project progress. They are responsible for measuring and valuing variations in the work during the contract, arranging interim payments, and finalizing the account.
  • Site visits and liaise with site managers and contractors / sub-contractors.
  • Measurement of subcontractor monthly valuations and final accounts.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure that the requirements of the client are delivered.
  • Manage and produce accurate formal reports, and follow procedures and instructions in accordance with the business.
  • Communicate regularly with project staff and specialist subcontractors to ensure commercial controls are in place, understood and always followed.
  • Produce accurate measuring, data transfers, formulations, and calculations
  • Work in a well-timed manner not to hold up the adjacent teams and project progress
  • General administration
  • Well-developed English & Afrikaans language skills (speak, read and write)
