Salary: £65,000 to £90,000 Depending on experience
Hybrid working: 3 days in the office, two days from home

A prestigious full-service Top 100 law practice with a highly regarded reputation for private client services, is recruiting for a Private Client Trusts and Estates Tax Manager to join their dynamic Private Client team. This dynamic and exciting role will require the Tax Manager to provide advice to the firm’s lawyers with tax advice and tax reporting for trusts and estates, including the preparation of estate accounts and annual trust accounts using CCH software.

The role of the Tax Manager - Trusts and Estates:
The work is accounting-based yet will require some understanding of the tax treatment of estates, trusts and individuals. The work will include analysis of property and share portfolios, discretionary trusts, life interest trusts, family wealth management, and also general tax and accounting advice on other specific matters.
There will be an element of work involving the preparation of trust accounts, trust tax returns, trust administration and Trust Registration Service.
Key Responsibilities and Duties include of the Tax Manager - Trusts and Estates:
- Assisting lawyers with the preparation of full and detailed estate accounts (STEP format), estate tax returns and beneficiary income statements.
- Preparing 60-day Capital Gains Tax (CGT) returns for estates and individuals.
- Preparing Non-resident CGT returns.
- Co-ordinating tax payments and clearance for individuals, estates and trusts.
- Assisting with preparation of accounts information for Inheritance Tax form IHT100 returns for Trusts.
- Reconciling to third party and internal accounts records.
Qualifications & Experience of the Tax Manager - Trusts and Estates:
Ideally, you will have at least 3 years’ experience in a practical accountancy background and want to develop your professional skills, working towards qualification of a relevant professional accounting or tax body and / or become a STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) member.
Have Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax practical knowledge.
Previous experience of using CCH Personal Tax software, CCH Trust Accounts software or similar software is an advantage. This job may also be known as a Tax Specialist.
