Quality Engineer / Inspector

Location: Sheffield, S13 9AD

Salary: £32,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent, Full time

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The company design and manufacture, install and service innovative, bespoke and well-engineered Smoke and Fire Curtains that provide protection, security and reassurance.

The Role

The Quality Engineer/Inspector is a professional who ensures manufactured products meet requirements using tools and guidelines. They will inspect and verify product quality, ensuring it meets the required specifications before reaching the customer. The role expectancy will be to reduce/prevent quality issues within the company and make sure quality standards are maintained, reporting directly to the QHSE manager.

Key Roles and Responsibilities to include:

Participate in projects to help reduce quality issues and problems internally/externally.
Travel with the QHSE manager to suppliers. Participate in quality processes.
Assist in continual improvement projects, and work on further developments in this area.
Testing defective products and report writing.
Work with manufacturing to find solutions to difficulties in manufacturing new products and implement appropriate measurement/quality control steps.
Assist in investigating and resolving complaints and issues of the company products.
Support in developing and maintaining the internal test procedures.
Assisting, supporting, and reporting to the QHSE manager.
Inspecting production and confirming specifications by conducting visual and certain test requirements.
Communicating with the QHSE manager and supporting meetings regularly.
Undertaking training to be able to complete further job responsibilities.
Maintain the calibration system by making sure the process is continually maintained to comply with 9001 requirements.
Completing/supporting reports and logs with data and inspection results.
Reworking and analyzing quality issues in detail to set trends and build a database to help prevent quality issues within the company.
Internal auditor to support 9001 requirements.
Quality inspections on deliveries and modified products.
Reworking, testing and visually inspecting electronics.
Skills and Qualifications

Working with electronics - Basics
Fault finding to component level
Used to collaborative working both internally & externally
Previous quality role experience
A-levels, C&G, NVQs in the associated field, or equivalent, or equivalent experience
Writing SOPs/testing instructions
An understanding of electronics
Use of equipment - Multimeter, caliper,Power supplies etc
Working knowledge of IT skills — particularly with Word, Excel, and Outlook
Experience of working with Industrial standards and Directives
Working with technical equipment - Basic tools
Holds a current UK Driving License
