This high-growth SME are seeking their new knowledgeable and engaging CFO/Finance Director with experience of leading a business through an 'event’, to help with the next chapter of their journey. Their plan involves substantial growth for the organisation and working towards a very clear and achievable 3-5 year growth target.

As the new Chief Finance Officer/Director of Finance, you will play a key part in this.

With clear leadership, this company have an ethos of creating effective partnerships, and you will work as a strong and strategic partner internally with all areas of the business, both internally and externally.

You will need a very collaborative style and an ability to engage with, and communicate effectively with all stakeholders, demonstrating a high level of emotional intelligence. You will be managing, developing and mentoring a small finance team, and whilst you will be operating as a commercially-minded finance-lead, you will have to have a pragmatic approach, being hands-on where required. You must be equally prepared to 'get into the weeds’ in order to help further develop the Finance Team.

There is a culture of constant improvement, and you will be reviewing, identifying and driving the change to increase productivity and ensure robust controls are in place. You will ensure that the finance function is embedded with all material decisions both at the planning and the implementation stage. You will be highly analytical with strong commercial instincts and relevant experience.

Your success will ultimately be defined by the performance of the finance function, the performance of the business, and your ability to build effective relationships with the Leadership team of Directors. You will instinctively understand the perspective of the Leadership team and the board, and you will need to proactively provide the information and insight necessary for decision making.

Whilst collaborative in approach, you will need to understand the necessity of independence of thought and have the strength of character, the moral compass and the nuanced personal skills necessary to challenge when appropriate.

If you have a history of offering insights and tools that drive commercially oriented and independent decision making across previous businesses, this could be the ideal match.

  • A qualified Accountant. ACA, CIMA and ACCA
  • Some previous exposure to logistics or a stock based business would be beneficial
  • Excellent Excel and systems skills
  • Excellent management skills and a superb communicator
  • A pragmatic approach and collaborative style
