We are recruiting a Commercial Manager on behalf of our client, one of the UK & Ireland's largest structural steel manufacturers and contractors.

The work undertaken by our Client, is as varied as their customer base. From major projects for the pharmaceutical, Data Centre, food processing, warehousing and agricultural industries, to railway bridges, temporary projects with basement construction propping steels, and stands for major sports stadia.

Job Purpose

The Commercial Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the commercial activities of the company, ensuring profitability, and maintaining strong client relationships. The role involves strategic planning, financial management, contract negotiation, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management:

* Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.

* Monitor financial performance, identifying areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

* Oversee the preparation of financial statements and ensure timely reporting.

* Conduct financial risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.

Contract Management:

* Negotiate contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

* Ensure all contracts are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.

* Manage contract disputes and resolve issues in a timely manner.

* Maintain a contract database and track key milestones and deliverables.

Strategic Planning:

* Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with the company's goals.

* Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and market trends.

* Collaborate with senior management to set sales targets and growth strategies.

Client Relationship Management:

* Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.

* Ensure client satisfaction by understanding their needs and delivering high-quality services.

* Manage client feedback and address any concerns or issues promptly.

Project Management:

* Oversee project bids, ensuring accurate cost estimations and competitive pricing.

* Monitor project progress, ensuring adherence to budgets and timelines.

* Coordinate with project managers and teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Compliance and Risk Management:

* Ensure compliance with industry standards, health and safety regulations, and company policies.

* Implement and monitor risk management processes and procedures.

* Stay updated with changes in legislation and ensure the company adapts accordingly.

Team Leadership and Development:

* Lead and mentor the commercial team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

* Conduct performance reviews and identify training and development needs.

* Promote teamwork and collaboration across departments.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.

* Professional certifications (e.g., RICS, CIPS) are a plus.

Experience:

* Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a commercial management role within the construction or structural steel industry.

* Proven track record of managing large-scale projects and contracts.

* Experience with financial planning and budget management.

Skills:

Effective leadership and team management abilities.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Office, project management tools, financial software).
