Building Services Mechanical Inspector
Location: North London
Salary: £45.83 per hour (Umbrella)

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Services Inspector to join a Local Authority in North London. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, monitoring, and ensuring the quality and compliance of mechanical installations within a range of building projects, including heating system upgrades, gas boiler replacements, low-carbon solutions, and more. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical inspections, with a deep understanding of heating systems and a passion for sustainable building practices.

Key Responsibilities:

* Inspect, monitor, and ensure the quality and compliance of mechanical installations, including heating system upgrades, heat interface units (HIUs), heat metering systems, gas boiler replacements, and low carbon solutions such as heat pumps.

* Verify that all work aligns with technical specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.

* Liaise with contractors, engineers, and project managers to ensure the seamless delivery of projects within the agreed timeframe and budget.

* Identify and report defects, ensuring corrective actions are taken in a timely manner.

* Conduct regular site visits and prepare detailed inspection reports, ensuring comprehensive documentation.

* Support the integration of innovative, sustainable technologies aimed at reducing carbon emissions.

* Provide technical advice and guidance on best practices and solutions for low-carbon technologies and mechanical installations.

Key Skills and Experience Required:

* Proven experience in mechanical inspections within a capital works or retrofit programme.

* Strong knowledge of heating systems, including gas boilers, HIUs, and heat pumps.

* Familiarity with low-carbon technologies and sustainable building practices.

* Excellent understanding of compliance standards, building regulations, and health & safety requirements.

* Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate with a diverse team.

* Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related field.

Desirable:

* Experience with heat metering systems.

* Knowledge of renewable energy solutions and emerging low-carbon technologies
