ENVIRONMENT:

YOUR strong sales acumen, the ability to optimize product offerings, and support the company's growth objectives is sought to fill the role of a Product Specialist for a Joburg-based provider of Information Management Solutions. You will manage and promote the stationery and office equipment product range within the business while building customer relationships and ensuring effective service delivery. You will also be expected to retain and grow defined service portfolios. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Business Management/Marketing or similar discipline, have 3-5 years of experience in a Sales or Product Specialist role within the stationery, office equipment, or related industry & Business to Business (B2B) experience and an excellent track record in delivering high level sales presentations.

DUTIES:

  • Product Management: Oversee the complete lifecycle of stationery and office equipment products, from selection and procurement to sales and end-of-life management.
  • Sales Support: Provide detailed product information, training, and support to the sales team to enhance their ability to sell effectively.
  • Client Engagement: Act as a product expert during client interactions, presentations, and negotiations.
  • Market Research: Continuously monitor market trends, competitor products, and industry developments to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Promotional Activities: Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop and execute product promotions and campaigns.
  • Supplier Relations: Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate terms, ensure product availability, and manage costs.
  • Ensure new business generation and achievement of sales & service targets, by:
    • Ensuring understanding of client needs by business sector.
    • Researching and understanding client needs to customise and focus the service offering.
    • Engaging existing and potential clients at the business premises through presentations and events to increase awareness and understanding of service offering.
    • Driving product initiatives to promote service offering and educate clients on services and products.
    • Training and educating the Sales team on product/service offering and client engagement.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Achievement of sales targets for the product range.
  • Growth in market share for assigned products.
  • Customer satisfaction and feedback scores.
  • Successful execution of product promotions and campaigns.

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications -

  • Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Business Management, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).

Experience/Skills -

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Sales or Product Specialist role within the stationery, office equipment, or related industry.
  • Demonstrable experience with product lines similar to Stationery Wholesalers/Resellers.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving product performance.
  • Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of stationery and office equipment products.
  • Sales Acumen: Strong sales skills, including negotiation and client management.
  • Must have Business to Business (B2B) experience
  • Must have an excellent track record in delivering high level sales presentations
  • Must have an excellent track record in meeting and exceeding monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets.
  • Must have business acumen and be able to communicate with senior to top management levels
  • Must be prepared to travel between sites/clients
