A renowned educational institution in Lewisham, London is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to join their team as a Safeguarding and Inclusion Assistant on A 1 YEAR CONTRACT. This is a full-time position, working 35 hours per week during term time. Serving as an integral member of the team, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students within the organisation.

Job Title: Safeguarding and Inclusion Officer - 1 year contract

Term Time only

Salary: £29,000

Location: Lewisham

Key Responsibilities:

Recognising signs of abuse and making timely referrals to the relevant investigating agencies when necessary.
Collaborating effectively with the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) to facilitate efficient coordination and support.
Acting as a point of contact and source of support, advice, and expertise for the organisation in matters related to safeguarding and inclusion.
Undertaking child protection training to effectively identify signs of abuse and make appropriate interagency referrals.
Demonstrating a working knowledge of the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) and actively participating in child protection conferences and interagency meetings.
Advocating for the concerns and viewpoints of the school and ensuring they are represented and considered.
Maintaining accurate and confidential records of safeguarding concerns and related activities.
Facilitating the secure transfer of child protection files when students transition to new educational settings.
Taking responsibility for the management and maintenance of resources aimed at improving safeguarding within the organisation.
Attending core group meetings and initial case conferences for students with attendance issues, providing relevant updates to the Child Protection Officer.Additional Responsibilities:

Setting targets and allocating funds for vulnerable students, particularly looked after children (LAC).
Monitoring and supporting the development of Personal Education Plans for LAC.
Collaborating with the Virtual School for LAC to enhance access to education.
Ensuring each looked after child has a designated staff member to confide in, based on their preferences.
Advising staff and Governors on the needs of looked after children.Requirements:

A thorough understanding of the new regulations pertaining to Children's Social Care and Team around the Child.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
The ability to liaise effectively with social workers, community police officers, and other relevant agencies.
Commitment to staying updated with new CP and Safeguarding procedures in line with Ofsted and Safeguarding criteria.
Willingness to attend relevant training courses, seminars, insets, and workshops as required.This role offers an attractive full-time salary and is located just a short walk away from Lee train station, providing excellent commuting convenience.
