£110,000 to £130,000 plus Benefits

ABPM have been retained to recruit an ambitious and dynamic Managing Director to lead a successful and profitable construction services group. As you succeed the incumbent MD and owner, your brief is to continue building on the 10% p.a. profitable growth. An exciting growing SME business that operates across the Midlands.

As the leader of the business, you will report directly to the Chairman and will be backed by an experienced management team that is in place. The role provides business leader responsibilities which include the delivery of a broad range of Operational, Commercial, and Financial activities. Underpinning the day to day, you will own and develop the strategic direction and identify growth areas in current and new service lines. A highly autonomous post, the role has been created to lead a planned MBO / EOT within 2-4 years of appointment.

The goal is to ensure the company is constantly moving towards fulfilling its potential whilst maintaining its core principals and strong reputation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop and execute the company's business strategies in order to attain operational goals.
• Prepare and implement business plans by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities across the 8 business units.
• Leadership to the Management Team; clarity on roles / responsibilities, agreeing expectations, performance measurement, maintaining team harmony/performance.
• Develop and agree main deliverables for each section of the business - Commercial, Operations, Finance & Systems.
• Progressively act as the 'face of the business', public speaker, and public relations representative.
• Maintain and develop relationships with shareholders, supply chain partners, clients, and broader business environment framework groups.
• Ensure statutory requirements, contract obligations, company policies and the agreed governance standards are communicated and followed at all times.

Requirements and Skills:

• Proven experience as General Manager/Managing Director or other managerial position.
• Graduate or qualified professional (Potentially an MBA and/or a Commercial/Quantity Surveyor background).
• Understanding of how broader external business environment changes and forces can create opportunities.
• Strong understanding of commercial contracts, bids & tenders, measures of performance.
• Excellent organisational, leadership, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
