Complex Needs Support

Job Type: Full time (Monday - Friday) 8:30am-3:15pm

Contract Type: Temporary, Term Time Only

Daily Rate: £90-£110 (Experience dependant)

Veritas Education are looking for multiple Complex Needs Support staff to work in special needs schools supporting pupils aged between 3-19. You will be supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the classroom.

As a Complex Needs support staff member, you will be working across the school alongside a variety of children, with varying needs, academic abilities and disabilities. You will be supporting across a range of lessons, activities, and assisting the allocated healthcare staff who lead on the changing (Personal Care) and use of hoists.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with PMLD.
• Assist in creating and implementing individualised education plans (IEPs).
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Assist with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, and mobility.
• Collaborate with teachers and therapists to adapt and modify instructional materials.
• Encourage communication and social interaction among students using a range of communication methods.

Requirements:

• Proven experience supporting adults and/or children with complex needs is essential.
• Personal experience supporting a family member with SEN/PMLD is also valued.
• Level 2 Team Teach is desired, although this training can be offered by Veritas.
• Safeguarding training is essential, although this training can be offered by Veritas.
• Strong communication, empathy, and patience are crucial. The ability to handle challenging situations with calm and professionalism is a must.
• A dedication to improving the lives of students with complex needs and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to adapt to the varying needs of students and the school environment.
• A moving and handling qualification is preferred.
• Candidates must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS upon registration.
