Mechanically Biased Project Manager required for a South Manchester new build project with a £5M MEP value! This role offers a salary of £65-70K plus excellent benefits, including a car/allowance and a suitable candidate will be required for a February/March 2025 start.

Role Overview:

This role is ideal for an experienced project manager with a strong mechanical engineering background who has expertise in managing the mechanical aspects of complex building services projects. The project involves both design and build phases, so experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with architects, engineers, and subcontractors will be key to success in this role. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the day-to-day management of the project, ensuring that all work is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. They will also be expected to manage all contractual and stakeholder relationships, with particular emphasis on ensuring adherence to JCT contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the mechanical engineering aspects of the £5M MEP design and build project, ensuring quality standards are met across all phases.
Oversee project teams, including subcontractors, engineers, and suppliers, ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of the project.
Liaise with clients, consultants, and other key stakeholders to ensure clear communication and expectations are aligned.
Take responsibility for project planning, budgeting, and scheduling, ensuring the project is delivered on time and within budget.
Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Prepare and review progress reports, financial forecasts, and risk assessments.
Ensure that the project adheres to the terms of the JCT contract, managing any contract variations or claims in conjunction with the commercial team.
Implement and maintain effective project controls to monitor the delivery of key milestones and resolve any issues that arise.
Lead project meetings with stakeholders, providing updates on progress and identifying any potential risks or challenges.
Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Essential Requirements:

Strong mechanical engineering background with extensive experience in mechanical systems on design and build projects.
Proven track record of managing projects in the range of £3M - £10M in value.
Experience with JCT contracts is essential.
Excellent knowledge of MEP systems, their design, installation, and integration.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and teams.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
Ability to resolve technical issues and adapt to changing project requirements.
Experience in both the pre-construction and post-construction phases of a project.
Relevant project management qualification (e.g., APM, Prince2) is desirable.
