JOB DESCRIPTION

ROLE: REGISTERED MANAGER

REPORTS TO: OPERATIONS MANAGER

LOCATION: Worcestershire

HOURS OF WORK: 40 HOURS per week

SALARY: £41,200

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB ROLE:

The main purpose of the Registered Manager is to be responsible for providing outstanding care for our young people. You will be responsible for overseeing the effective day-day running of the Residential Home, and to be responsible for a team of staff and allocation of work. As a manager, you will be constantly assessing the need of the home, and at times this may require you to work directly with the children. As a manager for one of our homes, you will be striving to achieve an Outstanding Ofsted rating.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

To manage the home in compliance with OFSTED, legislation and the ethos and policies of the company.
To be involved within the Safer Recruitment of Staff
To ensure that your home delivers high quality childcare, which is focused on obtaining the best outcomes for each child and their individual needs.
Undertake staff supervisions, appraisals and probationary reviews, and oversee the day-day management of your wider team, to include managing any performance issues should they arise.
Identify key development areas regarding the progression of your staff team, to enable them to deliver the best outcomes for young people.
To maintain effective communication systems within the home
To build and maintain professional relationships with external agencies such as Local Authorities, Police and Health agencies
To take an active role within your own Development by identify and attending Training.
To be flexible in the hours of work, to complete tasks required.
To become the Designated Safeguarding Lead for Your Home.
To undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested by your Line Manager and / or Directors of Solace for Children.
To undertake Manager on Call Duties

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Detailed understanding of current legislation, including but not restricted to: Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Children's Act 1989 / 2014. Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018) Health & Safety At Work Act (1974)
Ability to demonstrate and promote Anti-discriminatory practice
Ability to support, manage and develop staff
Good organization skills and a high standard for written work/ computer literacy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

Understanding of attachment and trauma in relation to young people.

3 years' work experience working with Young People within a residential environment including 2 years at a management level which has required you to supervise others within a care role to Children.

Previous experience in a Senior/Deputy or Registered Manager role in a Residential Children's Care Setting

Experience of working with young people with emotional and behavioural issues and complex needs including challenging behaviour.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare - Or equivalent

Must be willing to undertake the Diploma Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England)

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Training
Knowledge of a wide range of Therapeutic Models Including PACE
Experience of Delivering In - House Training
Helpful advocate for Best Practice
Seeks, listens and acts upon feedback promoting Self- Awareness skills within yourself and others
