If you're a Finance Manager looking to step up into a Financial Controller role, here is your chance!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting Oversight: Manage and oversee the accounting functions for four entities, with turnovers ranging from £1 million to £20 million. This includes ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of four direct reports across multiple sites, providing guidance on financial processes and ensuring smooth operation of the accounting function. You will also work closely with indirect reports in commercial roles, particularly in larger projects.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and submit VAT returns and Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) returns. Oversee the financial reporting for three separate entities, with limited consolidation for the smallest entity into another.
  • Project Valuations & Monitoring: Conduct valuations for contractors and monitor financial performance throughout project lifecycles. Ensure that final project numbers are accurately submitted and reflected in the financial statements.
  • Commercial Involvement: Participate in pitches and client-facing activities as needed, especially where financial insight is critical. Your commercial acumen will be valued in supporting business development efforts.
  • Strategic Development: This role offers the opportunity to grow into a board-level position for the right candidate. You will play a key role in shaping the financial strategy of the company as it continues to expand.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification is desirable, but active studiers will be considered.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a Finance Manager or Senior Accountant role, preferably within a similar industry.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of VAT and CIS returns, financial reporting, and project valuation. Experience with multi-entity financial management is a plus.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Commercial Acumen: Ability to contribute to business development and client pitches, with a strong understanding of the commercial aspects of the business.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK and Europe.
