Healthcare Assistant (Part Time)

Working across the STS (Supportive Transition Service) Billing Lodge, Lime Trees & Glendale Northampton

Part time: 26 hours per week

Salary: From £23,624 plus enhancements, per annum pro rata

Shift pattern: 10.00am – 17.00pm or 11.00am – 18.00pm 4 days out of 7

St Andrew’s community services offer supportive transition that are innovative “own front door” single occupancy, bespoke properties, registered under St Andrew’s Healthcare. Each Supportive Transition Service (STS) provides an individualised person centred approach for complex individuals who otherwise do not have a route out of hospital.

A role within STS represents a real opportunity to support individuals through a transition period from hospital. Treatment programmes involve significant periods of time outside and are firmly focused on supporting community reintegration.

Purpose of Role:

  • To work as part of a team to deliver and maintain high standards of person-centred care, supporting service users’ daily activities and community rehabilitation in accordance with individual care plans and Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
  • To deliver a range of clinical and non-clinical care and therapeutic tasks, under the supervision of registered nurses.

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience working within a Healthcare setting
  • Caring and kind
  • Commitment to providing high standards of care
  • Good standard of literacy, numeracy and IT skills
  • Working within a mental healthcare setting can be a challenging. You will require resilience, so you will need a ‘can do, anything is possible’ attitude
  • Someone who loves to work in a team, using your own initiative and creativity, but also be able to follow procedures consistently where required
  • Someone who enjoys motivating and encouraging others to achieve their goals
  • Committed to inclusion and diversity
  • Being able to appropriately escalate concerns
  • Willing to do personal care tasks (washing, toileting, etc.) in some areas
  • Organisational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and active listening skills
  • Good observational and recording skills

Due to the physical requirements of this role and the support we provide to our service users, successful candidates must meet minimum requirements of physical capability, including an ability to sit, stand and kneel for a prolonged period of time as well as the ability to transition between kneeling, sitting and standing with ease.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience within healthcare or care work
  • Experience in a community service setting
  • A qualification in healthcare
  • Experience working in a mental health setting
  • Experience with working in Learning Disability and Autism
  • Interests in Arts, Crafts, Music or other similar hobbies
