Here at Superhiring, we are on a search for an enthusiastic and driven Children's Night Coach to join our Ofsted Regulated LD Children's Home in Eastbourne. We strive to encourage and motivate children, young people and young adults to develop and enhance life skills. We participate in a range of leisure activities, educational interests and social opportunities which offer positive challenges within a safe and structured environment.

Daily responsibilities

  • To be responsible as a member of the staff team to work on a waking shift in a team of staff to support and meet the needs of the young people in our care and for the direct allocated support.
  • To promote young people's physical, emotional and social welfare; promoting their capacity to take responsibility for themselves and to act responsibly towards others; in accordance with the Children Act 1989.
  • Taking responsibility for the upkeep of the establishment with regard to health and safety and primary care issues, as well as making autonomous decisions about individual young people's requests and behaviour whilst on shift.
  • Administrative work and record keeping associated with key working responsibilities and the daily running of the home.
  • To ensure that young people carry as much responsibility for their own lives as they can reasonably and demonstrably be expected to carry, keeping them informed of their circumstances and rights, involving them in planning their lives, supporting them and helping them towards taking greater control and responsibility

Household Responsibilities:
  • To ensure that the maintenance of the house is at a good standard by caring for all equipment and the overall environment.

  • To be accountable for moneys that have been allocated and spent for specific reasons.

  • Ensuring the young people are eating healthy and balanced meals prepared by staff.
  • Ensuring health and safety checks are complete in line with policies and Ofsted regulations and standards.

Personal:
  • To keep abreast of good practice in order to develop skills, knowledge and experience, in accordance with a personal development plan.
  • To make use of regular professional supervisions
  • To report to a line manager, or other appropriate person, malpractice or evidence which may suggest it
Additional Duties:
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
  • To work shifts including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis as required (2 days on, 2 days off)
  • Flexibility to work at other properties as directed by management.

You will be subject to enhanced checks before being offered a placement and should be prepared to volunteer any relevant information on request. You will receive regular and on going micro training in order to perform your role to your absolute best. We encourage internal promotions so will expect you to enter your level 3 or level 5 in an appropriate timescale. This job description is subject to regular review.
