We're Hiring: Tunnels Technical Manager

Are you an experienced professional in the underground and tunnelling sector? Join our innovative and dynamic team in London as a Tunnels Technical Manager, and take on a critical role in one of the UK's most ambitious infrastructure projects, Sizewell C.  

As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance) we will support the building for Sizewell C.  Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.

Technical Leadership: Lead and oversee all technical and engineering aspects related to underground and tunnelling works.

Innovative Projects: Develop construction methodologies, manage design integrity, and ensure compliance with project specifications.

Collaborative Environment: Work with a diverse team of engineers, CAD technicians, and various stakeholders to deliver world-class solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop construction sequences, methodologies, and temporary works designs for tunnelling activities.

Lead a team of engineers and CAD technicians, providing guidance and support.

Ensure technical solutions are safe, cost-effective, and compliant with project specifications.

Review client designs for buildability and compatibility.

Collaborate with procurement, commercial teams, and subcontractors to support project development.

Interface with marine technical teams and provide relevant inputs to planning and cost estimating teams.

What We're Looking For:

Knowledge & Skills:

Strong communication skills.

Proficiency in CAD software (2D and 3D): AutoCAD, Revit.

Qualifications & Experience:

In depth experience in underground and tunnelling projects within a contractor's organization.

Experience as an engineering/design or methods manager on similar projects.

Track record in managing high performance teams.

Good working knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

Desirable:

Temporary Works Coordinator certification.

Experience with TBM bored tunnels and mechanical tunnel excavation.

Knowledge of instrumentation, monitoring techniques, and TBM intervention techniques.
