Novo is an award-winning forward-thinking Consultancy providing Quantity Surveyors and Planners to Contracting and Engineering Organisations. We provide an array of Services from tender support through to final accounts, including claims and disputes, and bespoke training.

We have grown significantly over the last 5 years and now engage over 30+ construction professionals working across all construction sectors. We provide Services to the following companies: Costain, Balfour Beatty, BAM, Galliford Try, and Amey, together with various Tier 2 contractors and select Clients/Developers.

Additionally, Novo have just won 'Quantity Surveyors of the Year' and came second in 'Consultancy of the Year' at the 2023 National Building & Construction Awards.

The Role:

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Quantity Surveyor join our team on PAYE basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background working for a Tier 1 Contractor or large Tier 2 involved in Infrastructure activities. As a Quantity Surveyor you'll be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of projects, ensuring cost efficiency and value for money while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

* Preparation and agreement of interim payment applications

* Agreement and settlement of Final Accounts

* Identification of events and issuing notices for variations/compensation events

* Identification, evaluation and agreement of variations/compensation events

* Issuing of contractual notices and drafting of contractual communications

* Preparing, evaluating and submitting extension of time entitlements

* Providing support on claims or problematic issues or projects

* Providing support during formal disputes (i.e. Adjudication or Mediation)

* Procurement of sub-contractors

* Management of sub-contractors, variations, payment certificates, final account agreements

* Producing accurate cost and value reconciliations and outturn financial reporting

* Manging assistant/graduate commercial team members

* Continuing with CPD and enrolment into RICS/ICES

To be successful as one of our Quantity Surveyors, you'll need to have the following experience:

* Tier 1 Contractor or large Tier 2 involved in Infrastructure activities

* Experienced their own Project or worked closely with a Senior QS

* 4-5 years post graduate experience

* Sound understanding of contractual terms (NEC) and/or other Contracts

* Experience of preparing cost and value reconciliations and out-turn financial reporting

* Experience of supply chain procurement

* Experience of managing supply chain and Sub-Contractor accounts

* Understanding or experience of the basic procedures and formalities of construction claims (i.e. Adjudication or Mediation)

* Competent in all aspects of change management

* Well versed in maximising opportunity within interim payment applications

* Excellent written and verbal communications skills

* Experience in drafting commercial communications and notices

Skills and Qualifications:

BSC in Quantity Surveying (Highly desirable)

Advancing RICS or ICES membership

Current CSCS card

Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Well-presented and can articulate matters successfully

Keen and willing to experience more and work outside current comfort zone

Willingness to work away up to 2 night/week

Own transport and driving license
