Are you an experienced bar supervisor or manager looking to join one of the best places to work in hospitality?

What’s the role?

Assistant Bar Manager

Who we are…

The Ned and Ned’s Club are a global collection of hotels, clubs, spas, and restaurants for like-minded individuals to meet, work and have a good time.

The Ned launched in 2017 in the heart of the City, in the former Midland Bank headquarters. The Ned City of London houses Ned’s Club - a private members’ space, gym and rooftop - alongside a public spa, a whole floor of event spaces, ten restaurants and bars and 250 hotel bedrooms.

Reporting into the bar manager and overseeing the bar daily operation you will:

  • Lead your team to prepare and serve up perfectly made drinks from our range of menus
  • Lead our bar operations whenever the Bar Manager is not on duty, deputising and handling the day-to-day
  • Support with all people leadership tasks - including team recruitment, development and performance chats, onboarding new starters - this is a great role for an aspiring Bar Manager who wants to build their people management skillset
  • On our guest service bars your team will be the friendly face providing exceptional experiences, along with recommendations and suggested drinks
  • On our service bars your team will speedily prepare the orders as they come in, keeping our waiters and runners stocked with the drinks they need to deliver a seamless experience to our guests
  • All our bars are in full view of the guests, so you will oversee a tidy, presentable, and slick operation
  • As a leader of the bar team, you will be the guardian of outstanding hospitality and drinks quality within your team, modelling behaviours, monitoring standards, and providing coaching and feedback where needed
  • Maintain a safe and clean bar environment, protecting our guests and your teammates from any possible harm

What you can bring to the role:

  • Previous bar supervisory or leadership experience with a proven track record of delivering outstanding drinks and people management
  • Our customers and guests expect the best, so high standards are essential
  • A commercial mindset is needed in all our leaders. As second in command you will support your bar manager in delivering excellent financial performance and results
  • Ideally the person in this role would be preparing to be our next Bar Manager, so a desire to learn and progress is preferred, but not essential
  • You’ll have great all-round drinks knowledge, and ideally experience with cocktails and/or wines
  • A creative flair is always welcome – we host regular cocktail competitions with our winning drinks being added to the menus
  • If you have the desire to learn and progress then you can take part including the option to gain a Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) qualification, and extensive bar training as part of our monthly learning calendar

What The Ned can give you:

  • Salary of up to £42,000/year including service charge, depending on experience and bar size
  • Complimentary meals in our friendly team restaurant, Neddy’s including monthly payday breakfast
  • Exciting learning and development programmes to help progress your career
  • Exclusive rates at The Ned for staying and eating for you, your family and friends
  • Wellbeing and health benefits, including Reward Gateway and Wagestream, with access to gym, shopping, and cinema discounts
  • Your birthday off after a year of service and more holiday after five years
  • Paid volunteer day
  • Refer a friend scheme of up to £1,000
  • Regular social events, including an annual pool party
  • Employee assistance programme – 24/7 advice and support
  • Reward and recognition initiatives

At The Ned, we don't just celebrate our diversity, we challenge ourselves to do even better. The Ned is committed to being the best place to work, and ensuring that we have a leading diversity, equity and inclusion programme is central to making that vision a reality.
