Birmingham's Grand Hotel on Colmore Row is housed in one of the city's most iconic buildings.

This landmark Grade II* listed building has been brought back to life combining beautifully restored classic and original Victorian features with modern service and style that compliments a vibrant and diverse Birmingham in the 21st century.

The Grand Hotel features 185 bedrooms and extraordinary suites, a glamorous cocktail bar, a buzzing New York style restaurant, and eight magnificent meeting and event rooms - as well as the spectacular, Louis XIV-style Grand Ballroom.

Head Housekeeper

What you will do

• Be fully accountable for the housekeeping department, reporting to the Rooms Division Manager
• You will be accountable for regulating all housekeeping costs and keeping in line with the business forecasts by maximising room division profitability e.g P&L, forecasting, payroll, stock etc
• Ensure the highest level of cleaning standards are achieved in guest bedrooms, guest corridors, public and back of house areas ensuring agreed standards are achieved at all times
• Strategically create the assignments, ensuring optimum coverage and productivity, while remaining fair and reasonable for the team
• Confidently and competently use systems such as Opera, Fourth, Procure Wizard and the Streamline Linen Portal
• Motivate the team by leading from the front with confidence; being dynamic and positive at all times
• Make sure the team is well-trained, friendly and offers great engagement and efficient service for guests
• Ensure full compliance of Health and Safety rules and regulations are adhered to across the department and the wider hotel
• Effectively manage all employee-relation matters, while following the advice given by our People & Culture department
• Be flexible to jump into any roll within the housekeeping department when needed

Ideal candidate

• Strong leadership skills, as demonstrated in a previous role as Head Housekeeper or as a Deputy Head Housekeeper in a similar property or business
• Promote a positive attitude and display the ability to 'make things happen' though a 'can do attitude' to achieve and exceed results with and through your team
• Highly guest-service oriented
• Ability to confidently make decisions
• Due to the nature of the work, the ideal candidate would be fully flexible in their approach to work and be able to work shift patterns through weekdays and weekends
