I'm currently supporting a fast-growing, well-established accountancy firm in their search for a Senior Management Accountant to join their Audit & Accounts team based in Borehamwood. This role is ideal for someone with solid management accounts experience, strong client-facing skills, and a desire to contribute to a collaborative and high-performing team.
You'll be working closely with the Business Services Manager and will take ownership of preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts across a portfolio of clients. You'll also support and guide junior staff while playing a key part in maintaining high standards of service and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare monthly/quarterly management accounts with insightful analysis and tailored reporting

Handle bookkeeping and VAT returns with accuracy and attention to detail

Take responsibility for preparing year-end accounts for manager review and finalisation

Complete month-end and quarter-end reconciliations and adjustments (prepayments, accruals, etc.)

Prepare ad-hoc reports for clients and assist with client queries

Perform payment runs and manage day-to-day finance operations for clients

Supervise and review junior team members' work, offering constructive feedback

Mentor and support junior staff to aid their development and growth

Maintain client files, ensuring accurate documentation and confidentiality at all times

Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, tax legislation, and relevant software
About You: We're looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure. Excellent communication skills are essential, along with a proactive, can-do attitude.
You'll ideally have:

Previous experience in a similar role within a professional services environment

Exposure to clients in the hospitality and financial services sectors

Experience working with FCA-regulated businesses (desirable but not essential)

CIMA or ACCA qualification

Solid technical knowledge including prepayments, accruals, depreciation, and deferred income

Good knowledge of Xero, Dext, and Microsoft Excel

Familiarity with Caseware (a bonus, but not essential)
