Position Overview:
Pertemps Medical is going through an exciting period of growth and change. We are seeking to add to our brilliant team to support our significant multiyear investment and expansion plans - building upon our strong ethos of patient safety, high clinical standards, robust team support, and sector-leading dynamism.

Strong clinical leadership is key with the recruitment and retention of staff, along with greater clinician and client engagement as well as fostering strong relationships with clinical and non-clinical teams. These are recognised widely as being key drivers of improved quality and safety of care.

With your appointment, we will seek to add to this approach. You will become a part of team of clinicians sharing our culture, values and innovation within the Pertemps Network group.

Purpose of the Job:
General Practitioner is responsible for the safe, effective and timely delivery of medical assessments on behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) - for new recruits to the Royal Navy.

This involves adopting an occupational medicine approach. Initially the Primary Care notes and optician report are to be reviewed in order to determine if there are or have been any conditions that may impact on a candidate's ability to safely carry out the role they have applied for, or that may be made worse by the role.

Then a face-to-face medical allows further discussion of the candidate's history and a thorough head to toe (non-intimate) examination enables the clinician to assess the condition of the candidate.
Any conditions found which may have a bearing on their fitness to enter the Royal Navy or Royal Marines are discussed with a senior Naval clinician who takes a decision on the final outcome.
This is then communicated to the candidate.
Full training is given in this process and reference material is provided to support the clinicians.

Requirements:

Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK) / Post CCT
Full Registration with the GMC and record of Continuous Professional Development
Full participation in the appraisal and revalidation as required by the GMC
Good organisational and communication skills in Principal Duties and Responsibilities.
General Practitioner (Clinical Lead) responsible for the safe, effective and timely delivery of medical assessments on behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) - for new recruits to the Royal Navy, the Marines and the Reserves.
To supervise and work alongside your clinical team (i.e. ANP/Nurse/HCA etc)
Manage and resolve clinical queries from front-line clinicians by working collaboratively.
Appropriately discuss or refer matters that may need further input or sign-off by the clinical director as appropriate.
Responsible for the early identification of clinical concerns / escalations and taking the appropriate steps to gather information and undertake any required action or assisting the Clinical Medical Director.
To follow Clinical Governance
To follow clinical guidance and pathways as appropriate
Foster a supportive and collaborative environment that attracts, retains, and develops our high-quality team.

General duties:

To keep up to date with all required training needs and good practice commensurate with the role
Ensure proper and robust record-keeping.
To attend regular Clinical / Governance meetings and ad hoc meetings as required.
To safeguard patient and candidate welfare by ensuring the highest standards of medical practice are maintained.
