About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Business Tutor to deliver practical and engaging business workshops to adult prisoners in a Category B prison setting. The successful candidate will provide participants with essential skills and knowledge to set up and manage small businesses. This role supports rehabilitation efforts and prepares learners for future employment or self-employment opportunities post-release.

Key Responsibilities:

* Deliver Engaging Workshops: Facilitate business workshops covering small business setup, budgeting, marketing, customer service, and legal requirements, with a focus on practical skills needed for running a small business.

* Adapt to Learner Needs: Customize teaching methods and materials for a diverse group of learners with varying educational backgrounds, including those with limited literacy and numeracy skills.

* Focus on Real-Life Applications: Use real-world scenarios, practical demonstrations, and role-playing to help learners connect workshop content to situations they may encounter after release.

* Encourage Peer Learning: Lead group discussions to foster a supportive learning environment and promote the sharing of experiences among participants.

* Provide Individual Support: Offer one-on-one tutoring and guidance to learners who need extra help, particularly in literacy, numeracy, or digital skills.

* Ensure a Safe Learning Environment: Conduct practical demonstrations safely, ensuring learners are trained in the proper use of tools and techniques.

Target Audience:

* Adult prisoners in a Category B prison, with diverse educational backgrounds and learning needs.

* Individuals motivated to gain business skills for rehabilitation, future employment, or self-employment.

Essential Learning Areas:

* Small Business Setup: Steps for registering a business, understanding legal requirements, and obtaining necessary licenses.

* Finance Basics: Budgeting, cost management, setting prices, and basic bookkeeping.

* Marketing & Customer Relations: Strategies for finding clients, maintaining customer satisfaction, and promoting a small business.

* Workplace Skills: Practical skills linked directly to managing and operating a small business.

* Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Approaches to overcoming daily business challenges.

Delivery Methods:

* Interactive workshops with hands-on activities, role-playing, and real-life case studies.

* Group discussions for peer support and experience sharing.

* One-on-one tutoring for tailored assistance.

* Practical demonstrations using tools and equipment relevant to the trades being taught.
