About the Role:We are seeking a compassionate and skilled SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) with specialist knowledge and experience supporting children with autism to join a primary school in High Wycombe. As part of the inclusive educational team, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to create a nurturing and structured environment that enables all pupils to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to children with autism, ensuring they can access learning in an inclusive and supportive way.
  • Implement tailored learning activities based on individual education plans (IEPs) and collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons where necessary.
  • Use specialist communication tools and sensory strategies to engage and support pupils.
  • Promote positive interactions, social skills, and independence in both academic and social settings.
  • Monitor and record pupils' progress, liaising with teachers and parents/guardians to communicate achievements and areas for development.
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of resources to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Proven experience working with children with autism in an educational setting, ideally within a primary school.
  • An understanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and effective strategies for supporting children on the spectrum.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, are desirable but not essential.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting pupils' individual needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
