Vehicle Technician

Location - Barton Mills

Hours - 37.5 hours per week

Salary - £35,391 Per annum

Our client ensures that health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate high-quality care and they are looking for several vehicle technicians to join their team to ensure their vehicles are serviced, repaired and maintained to a high spec to enable them to provide this high level of service.

Responsibilities for the role of Vehicle Technicians

  • Conduct comprehensive inspections and diagnostics on a variety of vehicles to identify faults and malfunctions
  • Perform advanced mechanical, electrical, and electronic repairs, including engine and transmission overhauls, brake system repairs, and diagnostic troubleshooting, using specialised equipment
  • Utilise diagnostic software and tools to analyse vehicle systems and interpret fault codes.
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks, including servicing, oil changes, and component replacements, following manufacturer specifications and Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians and apprentices, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance Team performance as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety Regulations and maintain a clean and organised work environment.
  • Carry out MOT inspections/repairs as required.
  • Communicate with clinical and operational users to gain a full understanding of the nature of fault or problem with the vehicle and equipment. Assess the seriousness of the issues and implications and respond appropriately to the urgency of the requests.

Skills and Experience for the Role of Vehicle Technicians

Essential -

  • IMI Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of procedures for mechanical/electrical maintenance and repair to BTEC/HNC, or City and Guilds, plus relevant training or equivalent
  • Driving Licence with C1/D1 categories, courses, and significant experience in driving vehicles larger than a family saloon car
  • Proficiency in the use of diagnostic equipment and software, demonstrating the ability to interpret diagnostic data and make informed repair decisions
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex vehicle issues efficiently and effectively
  • Previous experience in a business vehicle maintenance environment
  • Extensive experience in vehicle mechanical engineering
  • Hands-on experience in current methodologies of mechanical maintenance
