Senior Technical Project Manager - Cloud Migration

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Project Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of a cloud migration project to Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, specifically Azure, and demonstrate expertise in managing complex technical projects with a focus on cloud migration, data center transformation, and application modernization.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, engineering, and cloud architects, to ensure the successful migration of our on-premises infrastructure and applications to the Azure cloud platform.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Leadership:Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of the cloud migration project, including infrastructure, application, and data migrations to Azure.

  • Cloud Strategy Implementation:Collaborate with cloud architects and technical teams to design and implement a robust Azure migration strategy aligned with business goals.

  • Stakeholder Management:Engage with key business stakeholders, technical teams, and external vendors to gather requirements, set expectations, and ensure the project meets business objectives.

  • Risk and Issue Management:Identify potential risks, dependencies, and challenges related to cloud migration; proactively develop mitigation plans and solutions.

  • Timeline and Budget Management:Define project scope, timelines, and budgets. Track and report on progress, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.

  • Technical Oversight:Oversee technical teams responsible for migrating infrastructure, applications, and databases from on-premises environments to Azure, ensuring best practices are followed.

  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization:Ensure post-migration performance, availability, and scalability of applications and infrastructure are maintained in Azure.

  • Documentation and Compliance:Maintain detailed project documentation and ensure that all aspects of the migration comply with security, governance, and compliance standards.

  • Continuous Improvement:Recommend enhancements to existing cloud infrastructure, processes, and tools for continuous optimization post-migration.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Experience:8+ years of experience in IT project management, with at least 3-5 years of experience managing cloud migration projects to Microsoft Azure.

  • Technical Expertise:Strong understanding of cloud platforms, specifically Azure services such as Azure Compute, Storage, Networking, Virtual Machines, and Databases.Experience with cloud migration tools (e.g., Azure Migrate, ASR, or third-party tools).

  • Project Management Skills:Proven experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies, project scoping, planning, resource allocation, budgeting, and risk management.Certification in project management (PMP, PRINCE2, or Scrum Master) is preferred.

  • Cloud Certifications:Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect or Azure DevOps Engineer) are highly desirable.

  • Stakeholder Management:Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and technical teams.

  • Problem Solving & Decision Making:Demonstrated ability to navigate complex challenges in cloud environments and implement effective solutions under pressure.

  • Security & Compliance Knowledge:Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks, including GDPR, HIPAA, or other relevant regulatory requirements.

  • Tools & Technologies:Familiarity with DevOps tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Terraform) and experience working in an agile environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud environments and/or multi-cloud strategies.
  • Prior experience in data center transformation or large-scale infrastructure projects.
