Watkin Jones are looking for an ambitious, driven Project Manager to join the Group.
As a Project Manager within our Group, you will be at the forefront of delivering key refurbishment projects, playing a crucial role in driving the success of our growing operations in this sector. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle, from inception to completion. You'll work closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You’ll oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects, while proactively identifying and mitigating any risks or issues that may arise.
In this pivotal role, you will oversee the end-to-end management of refurbishment projects ranging from £1m to £20m, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards. You will play a key role in driving business opportunities by building and nurturing strong client relationships, gathering project requirements, and securing new projects.
Additionally, you will lead bid management efforts, ensuring the preparation of competitive tenders and developing detailed project programmes. Throughout the lifecycle of each project, you will create comprehensive plans, budgets, and timelines, closely monitoring progress to keep projects on track.
You will also oversee critical tasks such as fire compartmentalisation and façade remediation, ensuring full compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. Handling contract negotiation and administration will be essential, ensuring that all contracts meet legal, technical, and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate closely with external partners, contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution, resolve challenges, and maintain high performance.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in contract management and project management, specifically in the construction industry, with a focus on refurbishment projects ranging from £1m to £20m (preferably accommodation projects such as hotels).
- Strong client-facing skills, with a proven ability to drive business opportunities and manage client relationships.
- Extensive experience in bid management, including programme and resource planning.
- Strong knowledge of contract administration, including the drafting, negotiation, and management of contracts.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of construction industry standards, budgeting, and contract law.
- Leadership capabilities, with experience managing and developing a contract management team.
