Finance Officer
  • Annual Salary: Up to £33,000
  • Location: Chatham (Hybrid - office presence required a couple of days)
  • Job Type: Temporary (estimated 6 months or longer)

We are seeking a dedicated Finance Officer for an ongoing temporary assignment, which is estimated to last six months or potentially longer. The role is based in Chatham and offers the flexibility of remote work, with the requirement to come into the office a couple of days. The ideal candidate will have experience with statutory returns and auditing, preferably within the higher education or charity sector.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Prepare and manage statutory returns with accuracy and within deadlines.
  • Assist with the upcoming CFA audit and ensure all financial records are compliant and well-organised.
  • Work collaboratively within a team of five to support various financial operations.
  • Engage in regular financial reporting and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Ensure adherence to financial policies and regulations.
  • Provide support for various ad hoc projects and financial inquiries.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in managing statutory returns.
  • Auditing experience, with the ability to contribute to a successful CFA audit.
  • Background in higher education or charity finance roles is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • A team player who is also capable of working independently.
  • Hardworking, driven, and committed to high standards of work.
