Control Systems Development Engineer - Peterborough (Hybrid) - Up to £50/hr - Inside IR35

Have you got experience of Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow to create Control Algorithms? Jonathan Lee Recruitment is seeking a skilled and collaborative Engineer to join our client's European Controls and Software team, responsible for engine controls and software development for small and medium diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrain programmes.

The successful applicant will be involved in the design and development of controls and software for advanced diesel engine and hybrid system controls. This position offers the opportunity to work on several programmes, applying cutting-edge technology to improve the sustainability of engine and hybrid power systems deployed in industrial and off-highway applications.

To give you an idea of how this Control Systems Development Engineer role would look and feel, here are some of the things you could expect to do:

• Work with process partner teams (primarily Industrial Power Systems Division) to gather and develop requirements for the advanced diesel engines and hybrid power systems being developed for future, more sustainable, low carbon power systems.
• Create control algorithms and software models using Matlab, Simulink, and Stateflow to meet diesel engine and/or hybrid power system software requirements.
• Conduct control system tuning and calibration activities on the test bench or machine to achieve desired system performance.
• Conduct sub-system FMEAs, documenting potential failure modes, identifying and completing design and validation actions, and managing subsequent updates.

To apply for this Control Systems Development Engineer position, your soft skills, expertise, and experience should include:

• Experience with internal combustion engines and having the internal combustion knowledge.
• Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow experience is essential must’ve used it to create Control Algorithms.
• This should have been gained in a diesel engine or hybrid power systems development environment.
• Ability to translate and develop customer requirements and objectives into production-ready software models.
• Knowledge of software version control systems, ideally Git or Clearcase.
• Previous experience helping to develop requirements for engine control system functionality.
