Gas Engineer

Resourcing Group is working with a local Maintenance Contractor who is responsible for managing a mixture of reactive and planned maintenance contracts across Exeter.
Duties include

* Carrying out general plumbing works including repairs and installation works as required
* Gas servicing and safety works
* Boiler and plumbing fault finding and repair works
* Gas appliance servicing works i.e. fires/ cookers etc. as required
* Unvented cylinder checks and services as required
* Any other reasonable activity associated with your trade or profession as required
* Implementation of the Association's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
* To carry out emergency and routine repairs within target timescales. Record the time an emergency repair has been made safe in the appropriate section on the PDA and if this is not available to communicate the information back to relevant colleagues.
* If a follow up visit is required, communicate with the customer and report back to relevant colleagues all appointment requirements.
* To carry out jobs according to instructions and to keep materials usage to a minimum consistent with required quality standards, obtaining approval whenever any substantial variation from orders is required.
* To order materials from suppliers for jobs which need a follow up visit due to not having the availability of van stock. Information on such orders are to be added onto the job notes on the PDA. To manage and be responsible for van stock assigned to your vehicle. Ensure that electronic purchase orders and timesheets are updated after each job and purchase.
* use the PDA as instructed including adding notes to all jobs as to works done and updates to jobs.
* Ensure that the storage areas and vehicles are kept tidy and locked at all times when unattended.
* All loose tools and equipment must be maintained in good working order, serviced regularly where required and in accordance with the Association's policies. Bring any defective materials or equipment to the attention of your line manager.
* Ensure customer appointments are kept to time and communication is maintained with the customer at all times.
* Manage workload including reactive maintenance and report performance issues to your supervisor or Manager.
* Support other team members wherever possible to keep the customer at the forefront of your role.
* Ensure that customer information is updated using your PDA.
This is starting as soon as possible and is not freelance. It is not self employed. It is a permanent and secure role available for the right person as soon as possible.
