Independent Practitioner - Occupational Therapist - Essex - £125+pd

mbi Medical are pleased to be working with the Essex County Council in sourcing a Independent Practitioner - Occupational Therapist to join their team.

The Team

The Independent Workforce Team (IWT) is a unique team that is largely made up of Independent Practitioners including Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, and Assistants. We operate with a small and dedicated core team with over 70 independent practitioners working flexibly for us to deliver efficient and effective outcomes for Adults, Carers, and Families in Essex.

Our Occupational Therapists specialise in the practice of complex manual handling, complex major adaptations, and overall equipment provision, as part of our early help, prevention and enablement offer for adults referred via the front door of the Council. We also provide back up capacity where operational services struggle to meet demand.

The Role

To be a competent and effective Independent Practitioner, you will need to be committed to a minimum number of cases per month, using your professional practice, knowledge and expertise whilst also being able to work autonomously with confidence.

Whilst you will have access to daily professional support and advice to manage your caseload, from our Workforce Coordinators, Senior Occupational Therapists and Social Workers, and managers, you will be expected to seek and source your own independent clinical supervision as a self-employed worker.

There is vast material at hand for you to access in relation to Practice and Process Guidance, and information around how you carry out your role, as well as virtual informal learning and development opportunities.

We expect you to carry out fast paced, discreet pieces of work, managing your own work to the highest standard and with the utmost competence. Whilst we encourage you to work flexibly, which can include outside your normal Monday - Friday 9am-5pm, you will need to be able to balance this flexibility against the service demands and respond to emails and phone calls in a timely manner whilst following Essex County Council policies.

You will be a passionate professional in demonstrating expert and effective practice ability from routine to complex situations. Managing a caseload and working collaboratively with statutory and non-statutory/voluntary agencies ensuring a joined-up approach is expected.

It is essential that you have significant experience of Social Care.

You are expected to keep updating your own training and development as per HCPC requirements and any training that IWT asks you to attend. The role requires you to be mobile and able to travel throughout the County of Essex. Driving licence and a car is essential
