Pay Rate: £40.00 Per Hour (PAYE) or £78.00 Per Hour (Umbrella)
Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:00

Job Purpose:

To work with the Senior Building Control Surveyors in delivering the Building Control Service in a competitive and commercial environmentKey Responsibilities:

To determine Full plan notifications and issue decision notices
Processing of Building Regulation notifications including the provision of pre-application advice
The inspection and certification of building work
To be responsible for ensuring effective enforcement where the Building Regulations have been contravened.
To respond to notifications of dangerous structures and recommend appropriate action to the Building Control Manager
To manage the workload to meet statutory time limits, performance standards, and service level agreements.
To be responsible for managing customer relationships, providing professional customer-orientated service, and promoting the Building Control Service at all times
To advise officers of other units and Members by providing specialist advice on the Building Act, Building Regulations, and construction-related matters including disabled access, sustainability,y and means of escape in case of fire
To work as part of a team ensuring that fluctuations in workload are met and covering for other surveyors in their absence
Undertake any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Building Control Manager
Provide advice to industry professionals on appropriate building standards relating to development proposals and works in progressQualifications and Experience:

Must be a Registered inspector who is a Class 2A
Expert Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, and its application to the functions of the service area
Relevant technical qualifications such as a degree building surveying or a combination of qualifications and experience that demonstrates expert knowledge of the service areas' functions and responsibilities
An appropriate recognized date fire regulations qualification for high-rise buildings
Demonstrable experience in working with elected members constructively and politically sensitively, underpinned by a good knowledge of current local government issues.
