JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position sits within our Energy Consultancy team, based in Woking, Surrey.  The job holder will report into our Manager, Energy Consulting.  
This team consists of seven employees, these are typically Study Managers, Concept Development Engineers and Flow Assurance Engineers.
Developing innovative engineering work on conceptual and FEED projects
Providing a consultative role to internal and external clients
Supervising, guiding and directing project teams. Ensuring the project team understands the technical details and key features of the project to enable the team to deliver work efficiently and to the highest technical standards
Business development - identify and propose opportunities to develop business within or beyond projects you are directly involved in
Proposal development - assist in preparing proposals by providing technical expertise
Cost control - very good awareness of project CTRs and the general monitoring of actual project activity hours. Identifying and mitigating potential project time overrun. Working to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the design process
Financial performance monitoring - delivery of projects within specified targets.
Creating, checking and approving project deliverables
Quality control - ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with corporate standards and procedures
Health, Safety & Environment - taking personal responsibility of own safety and that of others. Adhering to corporate Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and reporting all incidents and accidents without delay
Lead Energy Consulting studies in accordance with the contract terms and conditions and the project execution plan.
Manage risk relating to execution of the contract and manage contractual changes as they arise.
Manage relationships with Clients, being aware of and responding to customer needs, whilst still achieving study objectives.
Organise and manage the study team to achieve the health, safety, environmental, schedule, cost and quality requirements of the study.
Manage the preparation of cost estimates for studies and economic assessments of Projects
Ensure that they Study Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Procedures are followed.
Support Business Development team on early engagements with prospective clients
Support study proposal development
Provide support to study managers as required.
Develops solutions to bring client projects to market
Leads feasibility screening of development concepts. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Good understanding of Interfaces between various engineering disciplines.
Appreciations of onshore and offshore Oil & Gas facilities engineering as well as new energy sectors such as hydrogen, CCUS and energy from waste
Good ability in field development planning and Conceptual design competency for greenfield and Brownfield
Management of teams of multi-discipline engineers.
Excellent intrapersonal skills.
Manage the preparation of cost estimates for studies and economic assessments of Projects
Ability to think innovatively, practically and pragmatically.
Flexible and responsive approach to achieve Client's requirements.
Capable of structuring bespoke highly technical reports and presentations.
Presenting and discussing complex issues with Clients as well as project management/ commercial aspects.
Multi-tasking abilities.
Planning and forecasting ability.
Good experience in early-stage project development within the oil & gas and/or new energies sectors
UK and international concept development experience
Experience on a range of studies across different markets and understands the tools used and levels of detail required to support the early phase decision making process.
Relevant experience in FEED, EPC, Commissioning and / or Operations such that Client's recognise the experience from later phases being considered in their early study phase.
Proficient in the use of project scheduling, estimating and cost accounting tools and methods.
Experience in early phases of project development essential (feasibility studies, concept design, pre-FEED, master-planning, etc.)
Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.  Chartered Engineer status preferred.
