Brook Street Recruitment is working on behalf of our Belfast client to recruit a full time and permanent Head of Health & Safety professional

Reporting to the COO, the role will assist the client in their drive for a high-performance culture with continuous business improvement. The overall aim of this role will be to assist in adding significant value to the Company's regulatory framework and to build upon their excellent reputation of delivering best service standards for customers and employees.

The Head of Health & Safety will champion and empower risk management in the compliance areas of Health & Safety, ESG, Quality Management, Security, Data Protection with the resulting output of continual business improvement throughout the business.

The role will also undertake an internal audit function in a collaborative and solution-focused manner that is intended to further drive a compliance culture throughout the business.

The Head of Health & Safety will be based from the Belfast offices with hybrid working after a successful induction period. Travel to our other sites in GB will be required for effective performance of this key role.

The role will act as an informed advisor & internal consultant to Operations, Transport and other Business Services in compliance matters and will implement the Company's quality and compliance strategy.

Duties

Assist in the development of a high-performance culture by developing key performance indicators (KPI's) for compliance that achieves more action focused results whilst at the same time allows good monitoring and measurement data against established standards.
Provide strong leadership and direction to all sites and drive quality and consistency within the teams.
Review current key compliance processes to ensure that the relevant procedures, standards and specifications are up to date and legislatively and regulatory compliant.
Raise the profile of compliance management and embed a positive proactive strategy that aligns with the Company's values and mission.Lead the design of new processes, policies and procedures to identify and manage all risks in the achievement of the Company's compliance and regulatory objectives.

Liaise with all key functions and assist with the identification and management of potential operational risks through a range of documented and operational control measures.
Ensure that all areas of the Company are achieving the necessary operational compliance standards and that a positive compliance culture is fostered.
Support the management of processes in relation to Health and Safety, Risk Management, ESG, Quality Standards.
Support the area of quality management and business improvement to ensure necessary best practice standards that are implemented throughout all the areas of compliance.
Ensure the appropriate service level agreements are in place with key service providers that incorporate and promote ESG best practice and quality standards.
Implement effective internal audit processes to monitor and measure internal service delivery, ensuring agreed standards and levels are continually achieved and that performance is assessed and measured against established standards.
Essential Criteria

An occupational safety and health qualification equivalent to EQF level 6, e.g. Degree/ NEBOSH/ NCRQ diploma, NVQ/SVQ Level 6;
A successful track record of Risk and Safety management experience in a multi-disciplined but essentially an operational environment;
Audit experience;
Experience of conducting quality reviews on work undertaken by others, providing coaching and feedback as necessary;
Experience of conducting accident/incident investigations and preparation of investigation reports;
Experience of liaising with regulatory bodies and internal and external auditors;
Experience of working with integrated management systems (ISO or equivalent).Desirable Criteria

Experience of working in heavy industry, warehousing, transport and logistics environments.

Details

Salary circa £50k, dependent on experience.
34 paid leave days (inc. bank/public days)
