Company Overview

We have a brand-new role for a brilliant client of ours who are a leading supplier of sensor products to the oil & gas sector. They are looking to recruit a new Applications Engineer due to continued growth in the business.

In this role you will work alongside an existing multi discipline team to engineer and progress orders from the sales department through the production facility to the customer. The role will require you to interface with sales, product development and production areas of the business to ensure projects of varying complexity and value up to £1M+ are completed on time and within budget.

Skills & Experience:

* Time Served or degree qualified in instrumentation engineering or similar.

* 3-10 years' experience in an instrumentation related role.

* Interpretation of engineering drawings (mechanical, electrical wiring schematic and hook up's).

* Familiarity with hazardous areas.

* Understanding of ATEX directives.

* Knowledge of communication protocols including 4-20mA, HART, RS 232/485, Modbus, CANopen or Ethernet.

* Understanding of calibration principles, procedures and measurement uncertainties.

Responsibilities:

* Review of customer purchase orders, technical specifications and commercial documents.

* Production of detail engineering calculations from common existing templates.

* Checking and approving design drawings produced by CAD personnel.

* Generation of Bills of Materials.

* Production of manufacturing procedures and test specifications from existing templates.

* Liaison with customers and sub vendors regarding technical and commercial aspects.

* Occasional visits to customers facilities and sites both UK and overseas.

* Reporting project progress to senior management.

* Involvement in product and process improvement / cost reduction activities
