Jackson Hogg Procurement are delighted to be exclusively recruiting for a leading manufacturing organisation in Northumberland to appoint a Buyer on a full time and permanent basis. This is a business who have undergone a huge amount of investment recently so it is an excellent time to join them!

This is an on-site role Monday to Friday with working hours of 08:00-16:30. Salary is competitive an the package includes an annual discretionary bonus. CIPS funding is also something they could consider for this post.

The overall purpose of the Buyer is to support their Supply Chain with the selection and procurement of products, including responsibility for maintaining positive vendor relations, preparing and pricing strategies, placing and tracking purchase orders, managing inventory and keeping track of market trends.

The Role:

* Forecast levels of demand for services and products

* Keep constant check of stock levels and develop the automation of the process using the current software system

* Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedule, quality and service

* Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers

* Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers

* Understand production constraints, lead times and seasonal demand increments

* Assist in the negotiation of contracts, monitoring the quality of service provided

* Take responsibility for the purchase from negotiation to order placement, acknowledgement, delivery follow up and correct invoicing.

* Work closely with planning to assist with the scheduling of production based on raw material availability

* Customer service - Inputting orders and acknowledgements, managing stock, allocating deliveries, providing delivery paperwork and attaching supplier certificates and all documentation

Person Specification:

* Previous experience, ideally at least 2-3 years, in purchasing/negotiating in supply chain and manufacturing

* Proven negotiating record

* Strong Interpersonal skills

* Exceptional written and verbal communication

* Excellent IT skills - Especially Excel MRP experience would be an advantage.

* Strong analytical and organizational skills

* Ability to show initiative in solving problems and identifying improvements

* Ability to work accurately and methodically

* Strong team ethic and attitude

* Can do attitude

* CIPS or studying towards would be an advantage but not essential
