Location: UK Home based with travel & overnight staysTo £375 per day (outside IR35)Role Overview:We are looking for a Network Infrastructure Engineer for a 6-month contract, primarily focused on supporting network infrastructure changes resulting from recent mergers and acquisitions. Looking for hands-on experience in network design, configuration, maintenance, working closely with IT teams, Internal & External and will need to travel around UK with potential overnight stays. Travel destinations (not limited to) Stoke on Trent, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol, London. When not on-site, the role will be home-based.Key Responsibilities:
• Implement and manage network changes, including security patching, switching, and firewalls.
• Configure and maintain access points and device enrolment.
• Provide Active Directory management and support.
• Oversee merging of telephony, printers, and switches.
• Deliver hands-on IT support for various infrastructure components.
• Ensure smooth integration of systems following mergers and acquisitions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful network deployment and troubleshooting.
• Flexibility for regular travel and overnight stays, with the ability to work from home when not on-site.
• Create and maintain detailed network diagrams, documentation, and reports for current infrastructure and future upgradesKey Skills and Experience Required:
• 3-5+ years of experience in network engineering, infrastructure design, and management.
• Knowledge of network security best practices (firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS, etc.).
• Proficiency in Meraki, especially in patching, switching, and firewalls.
• Experience with access points, device enrolment, and network device management.
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory and Windows Server management along with IT support for hardware.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network and IT infrastructure issues.
• Previous experience working on network changes following mergers and acquisitions is desirable.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel across the UK and stay away as required.
Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in configuring routers, switches (Cisco, Juniper, etc.), and firewalls.
• Experience with network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
• Knowledge of network security best practices (firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark, etc.).
• Familiarity with cloud networking (365 AWS, Azure/Entra) and hybrid network setups
• Certification such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent is highly desirable.
