My wonderful Client based in Havering are seeking an experienced Teacher of Mathematics with leadership responsibilities.

This role requires delivering consistently high-quality lessons across the key stages and leading the improvement of teaching practices to raise student achievement and close gaps between student groups. As an outstanding educator, you will play a key role in enhancing the quality of teaching within Mathematics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and teach engaging, interactive lessons for KS3 and KS4 pupils, including those facing barriers to learning and those with social, emotional, mental health needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the KS3/KS4 maths curriculum (including GCSE requirements) and bring a creative approach to teaching that engages reluctant learners.
  • Develop and inspire innovative approaches to learning, teaching, and pupil participation.
  • Integrate lessons with the PSHE curriculum, British values, SMSC, and the world of work where appropriate.
  • Regularly assess and provide feedback to pupils, in line with the marking and feedback policy.
  • Lead by example, providing inspiration and motivation to staff and pupils to support positive progress and outcomes.
  • Ensure high expectations for behaviour are upheld, fostering a positive environment for learning.
  • Mentor a group of pupils, supporting them through their time at school.
  • Contribute to the middle leadership team, actively participating in shaping the school’s vision and strategic improvement plans to inspire, challenge, and empower others to achieve ambitious outcomes.
  • Support teachers’ professional development by carrying out lesson observations, providing constructive feedback, and implementing strategies to improve teaching practice.
  • Use data to identify pupils or groups requiring additional support and develop strategies to enhance teaching quality.
  • Coordinate and carry out activities aimed at improving teaching and learning, such as work scrutiny, lesson observations, and learning walks.
  • Use insights from data analysis to inform teacher development strategies and planning.
  • Take responsibility for your own professional growth, actively seeking learning opportunities, and deliver high-quality CPD to staff, sharing the latest insights and practices in mathematics.
  • Build effective working relationships and networks with local, national, and digital agencies to stay at the forefront of subject expertise.
  • Promote and safeguard pupil welfare and personal development in alignment with the school’s approach to SEND support.
  • Take an active interest in the wellbeing of staff, pupils, and the wider community.
  • Work closely with the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring all safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed correctly.
