Are you a positive and supportive individual with experience helping young children settle into structured learning environments? We are looking for a dedicated Child Support Specialist to work 1:1 with a Reception-aged child who requires additional support in developing social skills and understanding classroom routines.

The child, who did not attend nursery, is at the appropriate level for communication and understands what is being said to them. However, they struggles in large group settings, where instructions and lessons can be difficult for them to fully grasp without extra help. They are not yet used to the structured environment of a classroom and needs close attention and guidance to engage with lessons and follow routines.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support to help the child transition into the classroom setting from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM daily.

Offer targeted assistance in social development, helping them interact with peers and build positive relationships.

Support the child in understanding instructions and tasks during lessons, breaking down information as needed to ensure they stay engaged and comprehends what's expected.

Help them adjust to the structure of the school day, offering encouragement and attention to ensure they feels secure and supported.

Work alongside the class teacher to implement strategies that will help the child develop their confidence and independence in the classroom.

Essential Requirements:

Experience working with children in an educational setting.

A calm, nurturing approach and the ability to stay composed in challenging situations.

A DBS check registered on the update service or willingness to obtain one.

A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach, with the ability to build strong relationships.

Strong communication and teamwork skills, working closely with staff to support the child's individual needs.

Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality policies.
