Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, permanent

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Labour Manager to join a busy and dynamic team delivering large-scale engineering and specialist services projects across London and the South. This role plays a critical part in workforce forecasting, stakeholder engagement, and labour strategy planning across multiple business units.

You'll act as the central point for managing labour resourcing, fostering strong relationships with both site management and the operative workforce, while ensuring compliance with working rule agreements and employment legislation.

Key Responsibilities

Labour Forecasting & Resourcing

Review weekly labour forecasts and ensure all projects are appropriately resourced

Manage urgent and ad hoc resource requests efficiently

Partner with estimating teams to support bids and tenders with workforce planning input

Attend labour strategy and project start-up meetings

Take a long-term, proactive approach to 12-month forecasting

Stakeholder & Operative Engagement

Build strong working relationships with senior management and site teams

Maintain regular contact with operatives, handling queries and concerns

Support employee relations matters such as investigations and grievances in partnership with HR

Conduct regular site visits to maintain engagement and visibility

Working Rule Agreements & Compliance

Maintain a strong understanding of working rule agreements and related legislation

Liaise with union representatives and attend industry forums

Ensure workforce is paid in line with agreements in collaboration with payroll

Champion local and national Health & Safety initiatives and drive communication of key workforce strategies

Apprenticeships & Development

Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of apprentices and trainees

Provide pastoral support and career mapping guidance

Ensure apprentices gain relevant qualifications and a quality experience on site

Systems & Tools

Intermediate level proficiency in Excel (forecasting and analysis)

Competent in PowerPoint and Microsoft Office applications

Understanding of Time & Attendance systems and workforce management platforms

Detail-oriented with strong time management and prioritisation skills

Motivated to drive continuous improvement and efficiency in workforce management
