About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join our team in Birmingham. The successful candidate will work closely with students who have additional learning needs, supporting their academic and personal development within a classroom setting. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with SEND.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide 1:1 or group support for children with SEND, ensuring they can access the curriculum.

* Assist the class teacher in managing the classroom, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.

* Support students with personal care needs where necessary.

* Implement tailored learning strategies and behaviour management plans as directed by the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).

* Foster a positive and nurturing environment, helping students develop social and emotional skills.

* Monitor and report on students' progress to teachers and parents/carers.

* Work collaboratively with the wider school staff to ensure the best outcomes for students with SEND.

Requirements:

* Experience working with children with SEND in an educational setting (experience with Autism, ADHD, or other specific needs is highly desirable).

* A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) or equivalent experience.

* A patient, empathetic, and supportive approach to working with children with varying needs.

* Strong communication and teamwork skills.

* A commitment to promoting inclusion and helping every child reach their potential.

* An understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.

Desirable:

* Previous experience with behaviour management techniques.

* Knowledge of SEND-related legislation and practices.

* Experience in supporting children with physical or learning disabilities.
